On today’s FD Explained we’re taking another look at the manager’s job at Manchester United, to see who would fit the Old Trafford hotseat. With the Athletic reporting that United’s coach search has begun in earnest, long-rumoured targets like Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino have been joined on the shortlist by Luis Enrique, Ruben Amorim, and Graham Potter, while caretaker boss Ralf Rangnick is still under consideration, and whoever comes in needs to have the tactical chops to compete with Pep Guardiola, Thomas Tuchel, and Juergen Klopp, as well as be able to develop Sancho and Elanga and return Bruno, Maguire, and Rashford to form.
Today, we’ve looked at Sevilla’s Julen Lopetegui, formerly of Spain and Real Madrid, to see if he could bring back the United way. How has he got Sevilla above Atletico Madrid and Barcelona? How is he like Ralf Hasenhuettl? And what would hiring him mean for Ronaldo?
